The ultimate expression of high-contrast materiality and geometric purity. Designed and handcrafted in Mexico by studio davidpompa, the Origo Pendant Light is a masterful study in opposing textures. This elegant fixture pairs the raw, tactile beauty of natural stone with the sleek, pure surface of frosted opal glass, creating a grounded yet highly refined architectural statement. Engineered to be showcased in either a stark, moody black or a soft, elegant white, the Origo adapts seamlessly to the vision of any space.
Authentic Craftsmanship & Two Distinct Palettes
At the heart of the Origo collection is a deep respect for natural elements and traditional Mexican manufacturing. Celebrating the beauty of the handmade, this pendant is defined by its elemental, spherical forms, available in two striking, geological finishes:
-
Origo (Black Recinto): Crafted from native volcanic rock, this dark, highly porous stone immortalizes its raw, explosive origins, absorbing light to create a dramatic, earthy anchor.
-
Origo White (Fiorito): Quarried in Puebla, this light grey and white natural stone features subtle fossil imprints and small calcite formations, delivering a softer, sophisticated elegance.
Because both stones are organic materials, their textural variations guarantee that every single pendant is a bespoke, one-of-a-kind work of art.
Minimalist Suspension
While the materials themselves carry significant visual weight, this specific iteration features a stark, minimalist cable suspension system. By utilizing a clean, simple drop cord (color-matched in black or white depending on the stone), the fixture gains a highly tailored, architectural presence. The strict, linear geometry of the cord perfectly contrasts the soft, organic spheres of the stone and glass below it, allowing the materials to remain the absolute focal point.
Warm, Diffused Illumination
The Origo acts as a perfect ambient and atmospheric light source. The frosted opal glass sphere casts a gentle, omnidirectional glow that elegantly illuminates the textured surface of the adjacent stone. It is exceptionally well-suited for repetitive installations over a long kitchen island, dropping low over a modern bedside table, or clustered at varying heights to create a striking sculptural focal point in a stairwell or hospitality space.
Why Designers Specify the Origo Pendant:
-
Material Contrast: The striking juxtaposition of raw, textured stone against smooth, luminous white glass brings an incredibly tactile elegance to modern, clinical spaces.
-
Dual-Toned Versatility: By offering both the dark, industrial Recinto and the light, serene Fiorito on a single spec sheet, designers can easily balance moody, high-contrast environments or bright, monochromatic palettes.
-
Architectural Lines: The minimalist suspension provides a clean, precise aesthetic, preventing the installation from feeling cluttered and ensuring the focus remains on the fixture's sculptural volume.
-
Cultural Heritage: Handcrafted in Mexico City, the fixture brings an authentic, narrative-driven element to complex interior projects, exploring the boundary between light and heavy materials.
